Cumann na bhFiann is a nationwide Irish language youth organisation set up over 50 years ago. It is part funded by Foras na Gaeilge and is one of the six Lead Irish Language Organisations. Leadership training is central to the work of the organisation in order to ensure its future and the future of young people embracing Irish into their lives. Its main area of work is to provide opportunities for young people to use Irish socially and to create Irish speaking networks so that young people will have an Irish speaking circle of friends from attending events, Youth clubs and on to An Cumann Gaelach at 3rd level College. Regardless of whether a young person attends Irish medium or English medium school, it is vital that they all have the opportunity to use the language outside of the school in a natural environment among friends. Cumann na bhFiann also provide advice and support to groups/individuals lookng to set up Irish Clubs or events.
